March is the Alberta Francophonie Month. According to Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women “French is the second-most spoken language in Alberta, with over 260-thousand who either speak it as their mother tongue or use it at home. Their role in enriching our culture, fostering economic development and strengthening diversity, is invaluable.”
For his part, Nate Glubish, Minister of Technology and Innovation and Francophone Community Liaison says in a statement. “Alberta’s francophones have made, and continue to make, invaluable contributions to our province. Let us celebrate their legacy and work towards a future that embraces and celebrates bilingualism.”
BCN chatted with Mylene Beaulieu, Regional Director, ACFA who says the Francophone Community is growing in Alberta.
Beaulieu says this coming Friday ACFA they will raise the Franco Alberta flag at La Cite des Prairies building and other activities throughout the month.
