Lethbridge unveils permanent site for the Sports Hall of Fame

It’s been in the works for many years but now it’s official, the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame has a permanent home at the ATB Centre. After two years of having postponed the grand opening due to COVID-19, the hall of fame is a place to recognize and honour the legacy of sports in the city. The permanent site is on the ground level of the ATB Centre, with the current hall of fame class on display.

“It’s probably best described as a display. It’s an interactive display so we have the ability to be able to change it, there are surgical databases, there’s the ability that now instead of having to lug our old display cases around, people can come here. It is on both floors and we can adapt, and we can change, and we can work, and if we are highlighting a different sport or a different athlete it gives us a lot of flexibility but I am more excited for the community,” said Dave McMurray, Chair of the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame.

McMurray also hopes the new site will inspire some young athletes throughout the city as they come through the ATB Centre.
