The City of Lethbridge has announced it has experienced its first ever drop in homelessness since they started taking counts in 2014.
The city through a Point-In-Time count conducted in October, determined that 504 people identified as experiencing homelessness, roughly four people for every 1,000 residents. That number represents a 3% drop year-over-year. The city also adds that there is an increased number of vulnerable residents who use city-run support programs.
The Point-In-Time count is conducted during one night as a snapshot of how many people in Lethbridge are experiencing homelessness, The city says work still needs to be done to support the relatively high number of vulnerable residents.
