Lethbridge Hurricanes head coach brings home gold from 2023 World Juniors
A Team Canada assistant coach has returned to Lethbridge after winning gold at the World Junior Hockey championship. Brent Kisio who is also the head coach for the Lethbridge Hurricanes, says it feels great to have brought back some hardware. He says it was a real honour to have been a part of the winning team. Canada beat Czechia 3-2 in overtime to claim the title.
“It’s just an honour. It’s an honour to coach for your country and there’s a lot of weight there to make sure you do things right and you’re prepared and have the players on the right spots and ready to go. It’s just an absolute honour and a privilege to coach for Canada to win gold and bring it home for your country is always special. Our players were exceptional players and we’ve some talent up there front, obviously. And I thought our goaltender did a great job manage playing net and all through the lineup, just a lot of team buy in and a lot of great players doing some special things,” said Brent Kisio, Lethbridge Hurricanes head coach and Team Canada assistant coach.
Canada has now won 20 gold medals at the World Junior Hockey championships since 1977.
