Lethbridge crews prepare for wildfire season amid risk
As the risk of wildfires in the city increases due to low humidity and dry vegetation across southern Alberta, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) is preparing for the ahead season. Today, crews conducted wildland fire training in the river bottom near Popson Park on the west side. Jason Schrage, Lieutenant and member of the Wildland Fire team, says LFES has already responded to two significant wildfires within city limits this year.
Some recommendations from fire officials regarding your house include keeping grass cut short and well-maintained and removing dry leaves, branches and other combustible materials from around your home.
