Lethbridge County and municipalities simulate emergency management practices

Lethbridge County in collaboration with the municipalities of Coalhurst, Picture Butte, Nobleford and Barons conducted their first joint regional emergency management tabletop exercise.

The session was to understand the logistics of a local emergency and create a process when theoretical incidents or disasters occur. The partnership, signed in late 2024 created a complete response plan that saw 50 municipal staff members trained to respond effectively. The scenario presented today in question was a summer storm producing a tornado, with fires and water challenges occurring in other jurisdictions.

The county advises residents that the best step of readiness is education and to individually prepare themselves for any scenario, plus ensuring they get the correct information from reliable sources.
