Fundraiser to raise money for medical clinic

Blessing the Children Canada has a goal to make sure all Ethiopian children can break free from poverty and empower their own communities. The group runs two schools in Ethiopia with over 2,000 children attending those schools. They also provide a sponsorship program to help out kids and their families with providing food and basic needs. The group is hosting a Valentine’s Gala fundraiser on February 12th. Virginia Riediger, the Board Chair for Blessing the Children Canada, says this event will raise money for a much needed medical clinic in Ethiopia.

“The walls are up. We just had a container arrive in Bishoftu just last week that has some medical supplies on it. Some beds, medicines, and different things like that. We are hoping to raise up to $25,000. That’s not going to cover everything that we need to complete this medical centre, but it’s going to be a good start.”

The event will be virtual and Miss Universe Canada, Jamie VandenBerg, who is from the Lethbridge area, will make an appearance.
