Food bank partners with grocery store for spring food drive

The Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge is partnering with Loblaws for their annual Spring Food Drive. Food insecurity continues to be a big struggle in the country and many people are having to rely on food banks to put food on their tables, so food drives like this one are very needed. Donations can be collected directly at the No Frills location. Danielle McIntyre with the Interfaith Food Bank explains what some of the most needed items are right now.

“We’re always looking for those healthier items or those things that cost a little bit more. We like things like cereal, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, baby food, and anything of good protein or low salt content. It’s been a campaign that they have been running with Food Banks Canada for many years now, and we’re very lucky that most local food banks will be matched with the Loblaws store in their community.”

The Spring Food Drive is on now until April 16th.
