Demolition marks seniors’ housing redevelopment in Southern Alberta
The redevelopment of Piyami Lodge officially kicked off Tuesday. Provincial and local leaders gathered in Picture Butte to mark the demolition of the nearly 50-year-old seniors’ residence.
The project aims to break down barriers to affordable seniors’ housing by replacing the aging facility with a modern, expanded living community designed to meet the growing needs of older adults.
Green Acres Foundation’s Piyami Lodge, originally built in 1979, is being demolished to make way for a new two-story seniors’ living community. Piyami Lodge is one of the largest employers right there in picture Butte with approximately 75 workers.
