Deal between EnerStar Solutions and Space X’s Starlink

A Medicine Hat company has hit it big and has reached a huge partnership with a big company from the United States. EnerStar Solutions made a deal with Elon Musk’s Space X Starlink communications network and is expecting to send a thousand data terminals. They will then be deployed to customers in Texas who are operating oil rigs. Jim van der Sloot, the president of EnerStar Solutions in Medicine Hat, says this deal will help streamline the process of operating and directing oil rigs.

“But what we supported with Starlink was the idea that we can give you all the long and lats of every rig in North America. So we provided them with all the long and lats and said, listen, where are the places that we can start working together? I think that’s what really got them interested, because they looked at West Texas, they look at their cell base for where they’re providing data, too. And they recognized that West Texas was a great opportunity for us to start in. And it’s like the black hole of communications in the oil and gas industry. We have operations out of Pecos and Odessa there, so it’s a great place to start. We actually just got our 1st $500 Starlink units landed on Odessa this morning. So they just unloaded them this morning.”

Van der Sloot says the company plans to offer service packages to Canadian operators by early next year.
