Curling action continues for Day 8 of the 2022 Tim Hortons Brier
Curling action continued at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge today with a battle of the prairies. Team Wild Card 3 beat Team Manitoba 9-3. Team Saskatchewan and Team Wild Card 2, meanwhile, played a fairly tight game, but in the end it was Team Saskatchewan coming out victorious 9-5. Team Wild Card 2 Skip Matt Dunstone says the loss was difficult to swallow.
“Yeah sucks obviously, played really well. Just the little things that we needed to go our way this week didn’t happen for us and you know that’s curling. Really proud of the guys how they battled. Yeah, that’s just curling, it’s the way it goes,” said Matt Dunstone, Skip for Team Wild Card 2.
“Obviously it would be nice if we could both be in the playoffs, both being from Saskatchewan, but you know it’s great for the province that they have a playoff team no matter what in that game so hopefully we can keep it rolling for Saskatchewan,” said Colton Flasch, Skip for Team Saskatchewan. “Guys keep doing what their doing. Front end is playing really good, making the right shots at the right time. We could easily be undefeated right now that’s how well we are playing, just keep rolling into the playoffs.”
As for the standings, Team Alberta is tied with Team Canada to lead the way at 7 and 1 in Pool A and in Pool B the Brad Gushue foursome and Wild Card One leads the way with a perfect 8-0 record. The Tim Horton’s Brier wraps up Sunday at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge.
