Community cleanup to take place this weekend

The Green n Yellow Group in Lethbridge is hosting a cleanup called the 12 Month Cleanup this weekend. The group has hosted this initiative for the past five years. Residents in Lethbridge tell the group about areas in our city that are in need of an outdoor early spring cleaning. The group plans to pick up garbage and needles from different areas in the community. Members of the group say this work is vital to maintaining the areas in our city that children and families frequent. The event will take place at 9am on January 29th. Members will meet at the Mullet for coffee and then participants will depart from there.

“It always ends up 9 to 11am. We’re back here by almost to the dot, 11am. It’s two hours of your time. There’s two places that we’ll cleanup, and it’s amazing. The people that are in that neighborhood are always thankful. That ties us back to the 12 month cleanup in Lethbridge as we look to hit every area that we can. It won’t be every alley and nook and cranny, but every area in the city in 12 months,” says Michael Gervais, the President of the Green n Yellow Group.

There will be two places that the group will cleanup and those areas will be revealed once members meet up. The group is urging people to come out and help out.
