The Town of Coalhurst will celebrate this year’s Miners Days. The festivity will start this Friday and will run for the whole weekend. Lyndsay Montina, Mayor of Coalhurst says this celebration is a way to celebrate its history. She also explains what the event will entail. Coalhurst’s history dates back to 1911, however, in 1935, a mining tragedy took the lives of 16 miners causing the closure of the mine and creating a ghost town. It wasn’t inhabited again until the 1970s. Today Coalhurst is a small community of just over three thousand residents. It’s located 10 kilometres west of Lethbridge.
