Canadian Muslim charity looks to support children in Gaza

Human Concern International (HCI), a Muslim charity based in Ottawa, is relying on the generosity of Canadians to support nearly 1,500 children in Gaza affected by ongoing violence.

Usama Khan, Advisor to the Global CEO of HCI, says the organization is in the process of transferring a significant $3.5 million grant to UNICEF Canada to help establish an emergency space with 12 classrooms.

The facility will provide urgently needed mental health and psycho-social support to children who have experienced severe trauma. Despite the funding, Khan says more support is urgently needed as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues.

More than 200 million children around the world will need humanitarian assistance this year, including in Gaza.
