Small businesses make up about 90 per cent of the businesses operating in Downtown Lethbridge, and a City program is helping some owners invest in their storefronts and operations. The interest-free Business Improvement Loan provides eligible downtown businesses with up to $20,000 for improvements such as lighting, signage, accessibility and other renovations.
The loan can also be used for improvements like adding patio areas and permanent landscaping, installing and designing awnings and signs, upgrading exterior lighting and signage, and repairing or replacing storefront windows and doors.
