A bail hearing was held Wednesday for a 12-year-old Lethbridge boy who is facing an attempted murder charge.
It’s alleged the boy tried to kill his 7-year-old brother last August. According to police, the boy was home alone with his seven-year-old brother where police determined he repeatedly stabbed him with a knife, then lied to police during the investigation, telling officers an intruder broke into the northside home and stabbed his brother.
Police say the 12-year-old became a suspect after they recovered a knife as evidence.
However, on Wednesday, the bail hearing was adjourned to November 26th in order to review a report under Section 34 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, where the suspect was granted a psychological, psychiatric and risk assessment. As of date, no findings of fact have been issued, and the boy remains in custody.
