4% pay cut facing AHS support staff

A recent release by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees says the province is looking to cut wages for Alberta Health Services frontline workers and support staff. The Alberta government tabled a 4% pay cut for workers recently after negotiations were put on hold after the pandemic. Dr. Verna Yiu, the President and CEO for AHS, says she knows the struggles that workers are facing, but she wants them to hold on for just a bit longer.

Finance Minister Travis Toews says the province appreciates the hard work frontline workers do, but they have to think about Alberta facing around $100-billion in debt.
