Apartment building reopens for residents 55 and older

Lethbridge residents over 55 now have the option for more local housing. Avenue Living Communities has reopened up a new facility called Applewood to support independent living for seniors. The Regional Vice President for Avenue Living, Graeme Mitchell, says this is a great opportunity for mature Lethbridge residents who are looking for more affordable living situations.

“The location is right in the downtown area. It’s near all major amenities. Pharmacies, restaurants, grocery stores, coffee shops, and banks. The building itself is very comfortable for seniors. It’s equipped with an elevator that will take you right up to our unit. All the units are a nice big unit. They’re open, and have handlebars in all the showers and washrooms that are safely equipped for seniors. The building is just in a great location.”

Mitchell says the senior population in Lethbridge is growing, and with that comes a need for housing.

The Applewood apartment has 27 units that are all occupied at the moment. “During the transformation we were able to lease out a lot of the units to residents who are looking for senior housing. It’s been really exciting to see throughout this whole relaunch that the Applewood residents have really become a community within the downtown core,” adds Mitchell.

Applewood is currently accepting applications online to join the waitlist. You can view the apartment complex here https://www.avenueliving.ca/apartments-for-rent/applewood
