Alberta investing $1 million into youth suicide prevention grants

This is Mental Health week. As part of its commitment to prevent youth suicide and improving the health and well-being of young people, Alberta’s government invested an additional one-million dollars into Youth Suicide Prevention Grants, for a total of 4 million dollars over 2024-26. The Minister of Children and Family Services, Searle Turton, says the grant program has supported over 21 -hundred youth experiencing mental health challenges.

According to Alberta Government, youth sub-populations are at an increased risk of suicide are indigenous, sexual and gender diverse, experiencing homelessness, with mental health, in government care or transitioning out of care, with addiction challenges, and in recent immigrant and refugee youth.
