AHS worker takes a stand against covid vaccine

We’ve brought you stories in the past about AHS health care workers who have spoken out about not wanting to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Marilyn Markell is a Clinical Nurse Educator for Alberta Health Services. She teaches long term care based out of Red Deer. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 1986 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Markell says she was told she will be put on an unpaid leave of absence by the AHS because of her refusal to get the jab. She went on to say that she requested accommodation, but was declined.

Markell says she will be forced to change careers because of her decision to not accept the vaccine. She adds that she will continue to stand up for her convictions, regardless of the consequences.
