Polytechnic fitness team offers tips to combat sedentary-behaviour
The Lethbridge Polytechnic fitness team is offering tips to help reduce strain and stiffness caused by maintaining the same position for long periods of time, especially during desk work. While office jobs may be comfortable for many people, they often involve long periods of sedentary behaviour. On average, Canadians working full-time spend nearly 70 per cent of their day desk-bound. Diane Gallagher, project coordinator with Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Be Fit for Life Centre, says stationary work styles are associated with poor health and even chronic diseases.
