Safety tips for your home and car during the long weekend

We’ve got a big weekend ahead of us, it’s Valentine’s Day, and also the Family Day long weekend, at least here in Alberta. And with that, folks could be hitting the road to do some traveling this long weekend. Troy Hick, Chief Fire Marshall with the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services, offers some tips for keeping your home safe while you are away and also when hitting the highway on a winter road trip. Hicks also recommends unplugging television, coffee pots, toasters and other appliances that we are not going to use.

Heidi was born in Bogota, Colombia and lived there until she was 18, then she moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she finished her bachelor's degree in journalism. Since 2010 she covered political issues related to the government of former president Hugo Chávez and his political opponents, management, death and transition to a new government. In 2024, she joined at Bridge City News team as a Video Journalist to produce a wide range of stories including those which are faith based glorifying Jesus Christ.
