Art installation unveiled at Logan Boulet Arena
A new public art installation was unveiled Thursday morning at the Logan Boulet Arena. It is called “Interwoven Legacies” and it celebrates the impact of the organ donation of the arena’s namesake, following the April 2018 Humboldt bus crash.
What was unveiled was two art installations. A mural of pictures covering the exterior windows, and a vinyl wrap on the arena’s Zamboni. Both of these installations were designed by Lethbridge artist Karla Mather-Cocks. She says creating the unique design was a tedious task.
Originally envisioned for the exterior of the building was something much larger. However it would have involved the removal of the exterior stonework. Since the stonework was deemed to be a character defining element of the building, it was not removed. As for the Boulet family, they are happy with the how the new artwork turned out. Logan’s father, Toby Boulet says the family wanted something that people could enjoy looking at over and over.
The unveiling comes ahead of Green Shirt Day which is April the 7th
